Fresh Cut Grass is an animated short showing the journey of a little pup as he travels to the big city to congratulate his big sister for making it as a ballerina there. However, his search for her takes him to darker places than he was expecting, and revealing sickening things about the city that no pup should ever see...

Made by Boulder Media, this short was shown at a multitude of festivals over the world, winning many awards for its animation and subject matter; it was latter uploaded online to be viewed freely.

  • Bittersweet Ending: At the very end of the short the brother and sister are able to tearfully reunite, hugging each other and reaffirming their love to each other. However, the brother has learned and seen things way above his age range, and there's no indication that the sister is even able to leave the lifestyle she is stuck in.
  • Harmful to Minors: A child should not be seeing the sights of a Red Light District. And they should definitely never have to see their older sister as a pole dancer.
  • Hope Spot: After spending the entire short trying to find his sister, the brother finally finds a poster that directs him towards her... where she's just starting to perform a pathetic pole walk in front of an audience.
  • Innocence Lost: The theme to the short. Over the course of it the little brother gets exposed to more and more harmful, mature sights, cumulating in him walking in on his sister doing a reluctant pole walk in front of a group of adult humans.
  • Red Light District: The brother stumbles onto this type of district as night begins to fall, though with the caveat that it's an animal-focused district.
