No, this isn't some Robot Chicken sketch.

"Who cares? WE CARE!"

Care Package Chronicles was a 2017 animated Mini Series based on the Care Bears franchise, and followed the cancellation of Care Bears & Cousins. The series was very short-lived, lasting only 5 episodes from April 15 to May 13, 2017. Care Bears: Unlock the Magic would then follow in 2019.

The series follows the adventures of five bear friends; Cheer, Grumpy, Funshine, Bedtime, and Canon Foreigner Rainbow Heart Bear. Except this time, they're plastic toys! The bears travel in a "care package" to deliver caring and good will to all they visit. They're always eager to help, though they run into some hilarious mishaps and misunderstandings along the way.

Care Package Chronicles provides examples of:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: In "Global Warming", Funshine says this:
Funshine: Gosh is a golly goods, gang! It must be global warming...
  • Big "NO!": Funshine does this at the end of "Let Them Meet Cake".
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Grumpy does this at the end of "Global Warming", where he says to the audience that Funshine has a black belt in delusion.
  • Canon Foreigner: Rainbow Heart Bear was created specifically for this series (and the franchise's 35th anniversary). She is then never seen again afterwards.
  • Catching Some Z's: Happens with Bedtime Bear sometimes.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Not really, but Funshine briefly becomes a drill sergeant while trying to get the other bears out of the cake as a gag.
    Funshine: GO! GO! GOOO!
  • Living Toys: The bears in this series are living toys.
  • Losing Your Head: As they're toys, the bears have detachable body parts, including their heads.
  • Medium Blending: The bears are animated in 3D to appear toy-like (with animated mouths plastered on them), while interacting with a live-action environment. Real life humans are sometimes seen.
  • Mini Series: A very short one at that. 5 episodes that last for 1 minute each.
  • Minimalist Cast: The series solely follows the adventures of the five main bears. The only time we're shown another character that isn't a nameless human is the last episode, where Rainbow Heart Bear talks to an unintelligible turtle.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Canon Foreigner Rainbow Heart is one to Share Bear, as they both share nearly the same exact personality, and the latter was Put on a Bus with Harmony Bear.
  • Stylistic Suck: The gimmick of the series is that it was very crudely animated, given that the 2D mouths don't fit the faces of the 3D-animated toy bears.
  • Title-Only Opening: This series has one that lasts only a few seconds before showing the Episode Title Card.
