The Stygian Abyss was reshaped by earthquake activity

Instead of "The Stygian Abyss was destroyed in Ultima V", part of the Stygian Abyss collapsed and the rest was reshaped by earthquakes. Its original layout was destroyed, but the earthquakes formed a whole new series of catacombs that were explored and inhabited by others.
