In Bumblebee, the titular character is the only Autobot to have built-in weapons, but the first ROTB trailer shows Optimus transforming his arm during his confrontation with Optimus Primal. The 'bots will mention (or be shown) being retrofitted by Wheeljack in the years between the two movies' settings. Bumblebee, having been born during the war (he didn't even have a proper name yet), was made a lil killin' machine from the get-go.The Darkness is a returning character from the Transformers Franchise.

If Maximals and Predacons are from the future, it's the timeline where Optimus Prime was Killed Off for Real.
Prime's entire story arc in this movie will be to never give up and not accept possible future. At the end of the movie, Prime's self-esteem will be strong enough he will decide to Screw Destiny. Cheetor is a mute like Bumblebee
There hasn’t been any voice actor listed for Cheetor and given how Bumblebee has been compared as a counterpart to Cheetor, it would be fitting that they’d both be mute.
- Jossed, Cheetor is slated to be voiced by Tongayi Chirisa.
Battletrap will change sides.
Battletrap will change sides to the Maximals, he will gain a Rat alt-mode and change his name to Rattrap.Battletrap already changed sides.
He used to be a Maximal named Rattrap, but was captured and Reforged into a Minion by Unicron.That's not actually Unicron as the Big Bad of the movie
Just like in Beast Wars, it's actually the Vok taking Unicron's form. However, Unicron will still factor into the movie somehow. Unicron's essence will somehow be trapped within the Earth setting up his future appearance in the Bay movies
The Stinger will reveal Galvatron emerging from what's left of Unicron.
The reason Megatron hasn't been seen in this continuity is because he had been captured/consumed by Unicron. If/when Unicron is defeated, Megatron will free himself after having absorbed some of the Chaos Bringer's power into himself and transforming anew. The shot of Bumblebee jumping out of Stratosphere is his return after Scourge's attack on him
The Maximals have lost their battle with the Predacons.
Why else would they be stuck in the jungle with only four members amongst themselves? The Preds haven’t been doing good, either, explaining why Scorponok is helping the Terrorcons.- This would also explain why certain characters from Beast Wars like Dinobot, Waspinator, Blackarachnia, Tarantulas, and Rattrap don't seem to be present.
Charlie will make an appearance

Post-release Theories
This Unicron's weakness to Energon starvation in the movie is due to the sundering of the Unicron Singularity that happened in the IDW comics.
- Previously established in the Unicron Trilogy, the Singularity meant that there was only one Unicron existing across the entire multiverse. IDW Shockwave sundered the Singularity with his experiments, shattering Unicron's essence and forcing him to exist individually in each universe just like Primus. This movie demonstrates that not all instances of Unicron are equal, as the current iteration of the World Eater himself is a weaker fragment that needs to consume energon to survive.
The current Earth-bound Autobots are the descendants of the Thirteen Primes.
More scientifically, each contains CNA directly tied to them in some way.- Optimus Prime: The Arisen is the most obvious example, as he's typically been implied to be the reincarnation of this mostly unknown Prime to start with due to both being willing to extend an olive branch and ensure peace at any given opportunity.
- Bumblebee: Prima was the first bearer of the Matrix of Leadership, thus being the first Autobot, and renowned for his bravery and strength of character. Bumblebee is the first Autobot to make open contact with Earth, is often the one to take initiative in Prime's absence, and refuses to compromise his ideals of humans and Cybertronians coexisting in situations that dishearten even Optimus.
- Mirage: Amalgamous Prime had an ever-shifting body that provided the Cybertronians the ability to transform to start with. Mirage, likewise, has the most flexible reconfigurative ability of any Cybertronian in the films, pre-and- post Bumblebee.
- Wheeljack: Quintus Prime was known as the sower of life, and believed that it should be free to expand and evolve without limit. Wheeljack is one of the more pronounced Autobots who adores the planet's natural beauty, and maintains his inventive nature.
- Arcee: Solus Prime held the ability to craft anything she could put her mind to and was one of the smartest of the Primes, as well as having a supportive but firey personality that refused to stand by when injustice took place. Arcee is the primary information gatherer and acts as a heart of the group, but is ready to fight at a moment's notice when her friends are in danger.
- Stratosphere: Vector Prime is known as one of the oldest Cybertronians alive, and is a guardian of Time and Space, but often used his powers to simply form and maintain bonds with others. Stratosphere is the eldest of the Autobots by a wide margin and wears his age openly. Though he has no direct combat role, his presence always facilitates or precedes some form of emotional growth between the cast.
Sequel Theories
Megatron will appear in the next movie
- It will be revealed that Megatron arrived on Earth decades ago but was damaged in the crash. His body was found by Cobra who reverse engineered his tech for their weapons and when he wakes he'll scan one of their tanks for his alt mode.
- Alternately, he landed just before Optimus Primal's crew, scanned a T-Rex for his altmode, did battle with Primal but lost, and spent centuries as a severed head being studied by humans, until an accident with Energon reawakens him. Bonus points if his head evades notice by turning into a gun.
The Joes
are rebranded version of / successor to Sector Seven.- An alternative may be that GI Joes were spun off from a still-extant but diminished Sector Seven after the events of Bumblebee showed both the need for a Sector Seven-like but also a perceived need for it to be less free to act on its own. Hence, part of its responsibilities and resources may have been placed in a new organisation.
A Solo Beast Wars Spinoff
- The Maximals will get a movie dedicated to just them and will bring in other fan favorites like Rattrap, Dinobot and Waspinator.
Noah's Joe Codename
- A Latino from Brooklyn who spends a good deal of time underground? Yeah, he's gonna be Tunnel Rat.
- Breaker? He is a comms man after all. Or Clutch since he knows his way around vehicles.
- Breaker seems more likely; not to mention Tunnel Rat, while also a Brooklynite is (usually anyway) a Chinese-American.
- Or alternatively, he'll call himself Sonic as a tribute to Kris.
- Since he's officially dabbled in Cybertron tech by fixing up Mirage, maybe Energon
- Breaker? He is a comms man after all. Or Clutch since he knows his way around vehicles.
Charlie will return as a member of GI Joe
- It would only take a bit of tinkering to have her take the role of Lady Jaye, would avoid needing to introduce a totally new character, and would allow Bumblebee to meet up with his old friend again.
- She could be a new interpretation of Helix; the Canon Foreigner from the movie tie-in video game and later the IDW timeline.
- Or an existing attractive lady who's good with huge machines, Cover Girl.
Agent Burns will be a member of GI Joe
- It has been mentioned/joked about for years that John Cena is basically a GI Joe figure. Making Burns join GI Joe (perhaps as Duke) would bring it full circle.
- Hell, Sector 7 could be folded into G.I. Joe in this continuity, and in turn see Agent Simmons, who was still with Sector 7 in Bumblebee, become a Composite Character of an existing Joe.
The Predacons will be the next Big Bads
- BW Megatron, Terrorsaur, and Dinobot will be the next major threat. Dinobot will switch sides while BW Megatron and Terrorsaur will side with Unicron, becoming his new heralds (perhaps with BW Megatron getting his dragon form).
Tigertron and Rattrap will join the Maximals
- Optimus mentioned others were on Earth but Airazor lost contact with them. Rattrap and Tigertron are both Season 1 Beast Wars characters that are massively popular, with Tigertron able to take over Airazor's role as mentor and Rattrap able to provide comic relief.
The Terrorcons will make their return
Yeah, they did get killed here, but the other significant time the Terrorcons were associated with Unicron, Transformers: Prime, they were explicitly zombies reanimated by Dark Energon, aka, the Blood of Unicron. Considering Scourge's zombie like face beneath his mask, it's entirely possible the Terrorcons were a case of The Undead the entire film, and while Unicron is trapped now that the Transwarp Key is destroyed, he may still be able to revive the three of them so they can locate a means to free him again. If other Maximals did survive, the ones that show up will be lesser known ones rather than the more iconic crew
While it would be cool to see other Maximals like Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Tigatron come to the big screen, the focus they gave on Airazor instead of Cheetor or Rhinox, and the fact they even used Apelinq at all, establishes a precedence of being willing to give focus to lesser known characters in the mythos over the more iconic ones. As such, if we do get more Maximals, they'll follow in Apelinq's footsteps by being ones formerly exclusive to the comics and toylines like Nyx, Razorbeast, Wolfang, Snarl, or Torca.
