WMG / The Supernaturalist

Go To

Stefan and Ellen were involved sexually.
When these two met in the observatory Cosmo thought he saw Stefan blushing when he and Ellen were catching up.

The Supernaturalist takes place in the "Artemis Fowl" series' future.
At one point, Faustino mentions Phonetix, a company that was in the third book of Artemis Fowl.
  • That might mean the "exploding microchips Holocaust" in the last book is responsible for the dystopian state of the world in "Supernaturalist".
    • As of the release of "The Fowl Twins", this is beginning to look confirmed. The Myishi corporation (created to supply criminal masterminds) and the cellophane slugs both play significant parts in the plot of that book.
The Supernaturalist takes place in "The Wish List" 's future
It is mentioned by Faustino that (paraphrasing) "a Myishi hasn't been at the helm of this company for years", and if it is in the same universe as The Wish List there is at least one Myishi helping to devise Eternal Solutions to Infernal Problems for the forces of Hell.

Satellite City is located in Kuwait
Kuwait continues to use the Dinar as its primary currency, while also matching the city's description as being located in the Northern Hemisphere and on the edge of a desert. It's also a very wealthy country, meaning that it likely had (or could attract) the funds to support a project on the scale of Satellite City. A city built from scratch to be supported by an overhead satellite certainly sounds par the course for a Gulf state megaproject.

Obviously, it is not located on the equator, which would be ideal for maintaining a geosynchronous satellite. However, since the Satellite is falling out of the sky, it's possible that it was a failed attempt at maintaining a geosynchronous satellite at a higher latitude. After all, similar megaprojects in the area have come apart (or never taken off to begin with) thanks in no small part to hubris.

It is, however, mentioned that Satellite City is not a part of any welfare state. There's also little indication of the city being a part of a wider government. While it's possible that Kuwait's government collapsed amidst the environmental crises wracking the globe, the extent of Myishi's influence in the city (from owning the satellite to the mayor being Myishi's chairman) means Satellite City most likely operates as an independent corporate city-state. This may further explain the highly cosmopolitan nature of the city, having attracted workers and hopefuls from across the globe.
