Is Kiran Banerjee Brainwashed and Crazy?
Kiran Banerjee starts out as a well-meaning idealist who wants the best for humanity and the aliens and ends the story as a cynic who destroys the UN Headquarters and a good portion of New York City to enforce a Vichy Earth. You could pin this down on Banerjee actually being a duplicitous wannabe-tyrant whose humanitarian rhetoric was hollow all along, or the stress of the invasion and what he is trying to do causes him to snap completely, but it might also be the aliens compromised him from the beginning.

In the Servants storyline, it is revealed that Judith Howell and her Cult are Not Brainwashed because they wish to serve the Hydras willingly, which they discover interferes with the alien pherocytes. Banerjee is not serving the aliens willingly, and in their story the Protectorate never discover the alien pherocytes or any defences against them but they also have plenty of contact with the aliens. Therefore, Banerjee's a prime candidate for Mind Control.

  • Possibly Jossed. As of the newest build, the Protectorate can research the alien pheromones and mind control technology and ways to defend against it. So no, he's not brainwashed, just very cynical and desperate.

Possible content for future builds and DLC
  • New Scenarios:
  • New Factions:
    • Evolve. Arguably even more extreme than the Servants, the Transhumanists want to integrate themselves into the alien empire by harvesting the aliens' DNA and fundamentally changing what it means to be human forever.
    • Revolt. "No Gods, No Masters", be they human or alien. The Anarchists are basically a more idealistic version of the Initiative - use the global chaos of their arrival to bring about the Revolution. You can form a unique nation called the Global Defense Council which must be at least a flawed democracy and you must control at least 75% of Earth's population and defeat the aliens to win the game.
    • Rebel. A splinter faction within the alien hierarchy that grows sympathetic to humanity and turns their back on their own species to help mankind resist the invasion. Opens up some interesting opportunities for Civil Warcraft within the antagonist faction.
    • Maintain: This faction in one phrase: "Don't panic!" One part Don't Look Up, one part the military-industrial complex, one part The Men in Black. From mainstream cable news outlets to social media conspiracy theory peddlers, this faction wants to prevent panic spreading amongst the public and maintain the status quo for the wealthy and powerful by clamping down on any reports of alien activity. Misinformation campaigns on official news and social media to keep the public in the dark, take over governments to hide the aliens' existence.
    • Extinct. Perhaps the aliens' combat robots have sparked into sentience, or maybe the desperate humans built a military system that grew beyond their control. Whatever its origin may be, a rogue military AI has decided the fate of all organic life in a nanosecond. The AI's goal is to purge Earth of human life, and bring about the extinction of the aliens by launching bioweapons into the wormhole.
