This series will be connected to the universe of the original Scream movies
- With the returning Ghostface mask and voice actor, I could see this happening.
- In the second trailer, one of the characters says that they're in a Continuity Reboot. Whether she's referring to the tragedy in Deion's past or the events of the films as what's being rebooted is up in the air.
- Jossed. While the mask and the voice of Roger L. Jackson return, this is ultimately a standalone story without any connections to either the films or the earlier seasons of the TV show.
- At best, they are in the same universe, just in different places and focusing other people being targeted by someone adopting the Ghostface identity, but this has never been confirmed or denied by the creators of this season.

Shane is the killer

There were multiple killers
- Confirmed. Jamal and Beth were the killers, the former motivated by resentment towards his half-brother and the latter a sociopath who wanted to kill people.
What happened to the Lakewood Six
- They died offscreen. Duh.
- Jossed. This story doesn't follow the events of the first two seasons due to the whole Harvey Wienstein scandal, hence the change in the cast, the setting, and the killer actually being Ghostface (yay!). While the second season was left on a cliffhanger, hinting at a third killer, Brandon James returning to Lakewood, and Emma's dad being involved in Kieran's death, possibly being the next (or first) killer as well, the story with the Lakewood Six is unlikely to be continued as the actors have moved on to other things. It's possible if there is a season 4 for "Scream", its going to follow an anthology-style format as this season leaves no cliffhangers.
