    Season Two Predictions

Lucius is still alive.
He was last seen being dumped overboard by Blackbeard, however he was not shown as dead onscreen. He could have climbed back onto the boat through one of Stede’s secret passages, or he may have been picked up by a passing boat. But he is not dead.
  • Confirmed, as he was picked up by another ship.

Stede faking his death will have unintended consequences.
Stede faked his death in season one’s finale in a grandiose fashion; mauled by a leopard, run over by a carriage, then finally being crushed by a piano, with an added touch of Mary telling their neighbors that he had been sick anyway. But while it gave him the necessary cover to run away again, his “death” was absolutely outrageous and news of such a wild death would spread very quickly through word of mouth and gossip. It may even end up printed in newspapers.

So where are the unintended consequences? Because of the outrageous manner in which he “died”, the news of his death will reach Ed faster than their reunion will happen. So before Ed and Stede can even reunite, the Kraken will hear about his wild and very violent “death”, and undoubtedly the “revelation” that he was sick and going to die anyway. And this news will just drive Ed further into darkness, and bring about more violence.

We haven’t seen the last of the Badminton family.
Stede will continue to meet people from the Badminton family, looking to avenge family members who died in his presence. And for Rule of Funny, all of the Badminton’s who will seek Stede out will be played by Rory Kinnear. Both male and female family members.

Russell Crowe will play Benjamin Hornigold.
Neither Ed nor Calico Jack had anything nice to say about their former captain, and historically Benjamin Hornigold went on to become a pirate hunter when he received a pardon. Naturally, as he was mentioned in the show he may show up, so who better to play him than Russell Crowe? Series creator David Jenkins admitted that he wanted Crowe to be in the show, and in that same interview Taika Waititi said he’ll send Crowe a text about it (as they had worked together on Thor: Love and Thunder). So if Crowe were to agree to be on the show, he would fit perfectly as the former captain to Blackbeard.
  • Debunked; while Hornigold is in Season Two, he is played by Mark Mitchinson.

“Walking the Plank” will come up.
Historically, Stede Bonnet is one of the few pirates who was known to have had people walk the plank. While modern historians now believe this to be false (and the show is far from historically accurate) the origin of how Stede became associated with walking the plank will come up. Maybe because it will happen to Stede himself.
  • Confirmed; Stede himself forces Ned Low to walk, then knocks him into the ocean with his own violin.

Spanish Jackie is married to all seven Siete Gallos.
You know it, I know it. And the reveal is going to be glorious.

     Other Theories

The man in the flashbacks is not Stede’s father

In real life Stede Bonnet’s father died when Stede was pretty young, so maybe the man in the flashbacks is instead an uncle or other relation who is upset that Stede has inherited everything from his father. That would explain his obvious disdain for Stede and his wealth.
