WMG / Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always

Go To

The Green Ranger seen in behind the scenes footage is JJ Oliver.
Since Jason David Frank died while the movie was still filming. It'll be a tragic case of The Character Died with Him much like with Trini. With JJ confirming on screen his dad died recently.
  • Jossed. The green ranger is Tommy. JJ is mentioned by Kat as being away at karate camp.

Adam is the Green Ranger.
It's definitely possible. If Tommy's death is confirmed, he may have passed his powers onto Adam before he died similarly to how his Green Ranger counterpart Burai did to Rocky/Jason's counterpart Geki. Not only did Adam don Green Ranger powers twice before, but both him and Zack are in the special despite both of them being Black Rangers, and there aren't two Black Rangers running around...
  • Likely jossed by the trailer, as both him and Aisha are seen unmorphed assisting the others.

The Green Ranger actually is Tommy, but it's a morphed only flashback.
Since part of the plot involves the rangers going back in time, maybe Tommy only appears morphed.
  • Confirmed.
    • There wasn't actually any time travel involved, nor was it a flashback. He appeared in a scene showing Trini's death, and then another where he gets captured along with Jason and Kimberly. Tommy does indeed only appear morphed.

Robo-Rita is actually not Rita Repulsa revived; it's just a robot that thinks it's Rita.
Consider this: When the Z-Wave purified Rita, her soul actually split into two. Her mortal half is what we see in the Power Rangers in Space finale, while her magical half went on to become the Mystic Mother after confessing her sins and repudiating them. This will leave no room for any sort of revival, unless time travel-related shenanigans are involved.
  • Alternatively, like Lord Zedd's return, this is her purged evil resurrected.
    • Seemingly confirmed by a flashback scene in which Billy, trying to find whatever remains of Zordon, accidentally finds Rita's purged evil, which goes into Alpha 8's body.

Bulk now owns Ernie's Juice Bar
  • It's a theory floated around since Power Rangers Wild Force that the club Bulk and Skull seem to own in Forever Red is the juice bar, but it also is seemingly Jossed, but that's just because we're never told who actually owns it now.

It'll be revealed somehow that Ernie knew that the MMPR-Zeo Rangers were the Power Rangers
It's something that's been for the most part confirmed off-screen and otherwise considered semi-canon by fans. There's subtle hints on and off during Ernie's run on the show that indicates that he actually knew (not charging the Rangers for stuff more often than not, knowing terms that only the Rangers use before they're used by other civilians), but it's not something that's really ever talked about by the Rangers or even Zordon. Given that there's actually a scene shown in the trailer that takes place at the Youth Center, this would be the perfect time for either Zack or Rocky (as they are the ones shown there) to have a throw-away offhand line of 'Oh yea, he knew we were the Power Rangers' or something similar. Unfortunately, with Richard Genelle's death, the only indications we'll really see of Ernie are going to be through archive footage and other mentions, if not the Fake Shemp treatment.
  • Unfortunately, the only nod we get to Ernie is a line by Zack at the very end, hoping that they 'still have Ernie's recipes'. Nothing was stated as to who now owns the Juice Bar, though the exercise equipment that had slowly vanished from it over the years has returned. This would have honestly been, though, the perfect time for such a reveal.

Robo-Rita is more ruthless and evil than she originally was because lacks Rita's good half
The trailer already shows Rita has flat-out killed Trini and is performing the unusually ruthless plan of going back in time and killing them before they became Rangers in the first place. When Rita was hit by the Z-Wave, she was split into her good and evil, and Robo-Rita is solely composed of the latter, making her far eviler.

The Mystic Mother will return as an ally
Possibly with some tension, given that Robo-Rita flat-out murdered Trini and her daughter is out for revenge.
  • Jossed. The only Rita that appears is Robo-Rita.

Robo-Rita was created by Finster as a contingency plan
Finster was Rita's most loyal second in command, so him making some form of backup for Rita to return if something happened would fit him. It just took 30 years for her to be activated.
  • Jossed. Robo-Rita was created accidentally by Billy, who was looking for some remnants of Zordon. Instead, he finds the evil purged from Rita at Zordon's death.

Bulk or Skull are the Green Ranger
It wouldn't be Power Rangers without these two.
  • Or Spike.
    • Jossed. Bulk and Skull do appear on a billboard, and we hear a snippet of their classic theme, but the characters themselves do not appear

Billy will get to use the Gold Ranger powers.
Like he was originally intended to.
  • Jossed. Billy is the Blue Ranger throughout, although some of his history from the Zeo season is mentioned

Rita's dark side was specifically revived by another enemy of the Rangers, who serves as the final villain of the special (or possibly leading into a future special/series).
  • Alternatively, it'll lead into Cosmic Fury and have been the purely evil, resurrected Lord Zedd.
    • Jossed seemingly. it was a mistake of Billy's while looking to see if Zordon was still alive or remnants of his late mentor were still out there. That doesn't mean that there's not a The Man Behind the Man scenario going on, but it doesn't appear that way right now.

Bulk and Skull will return in the post-credit scene
Because, let´s be honest, their surprise unspoiled return would make all of us happy, even if it´s for just a quick 5-second gag.

Jossed. Bulk and Skull appear only on an advertisement poster for a sandwich business they have opened up

If Bulk and Skull do appear, they'll show to have taken a level in badass
By using some of Skull's fortune, they were able to upgrade Professor Phenomenus's tech, now armed with their own arsenal of gadgets, Bulk and Skull would be able to easily defeat Mooks like Tengas and Putties, but still unable to hold a candle against stronger opponents.
  • Jossed, they're no-shows.

The Power Morphers contain some of Zordon's essence
Which is why Minh couldn't morph using the Sabertooth coin before the moon fight. Zordon's essence could tell she wasn't in it for the right reasons and wanted her to prove herself worthy.

SPD is now an alternate timeline
Aisha and Adam are busy on Sirius dealing with the Troobian Empire, something that doesn't jell with established lore...but the SPD Rangers have visited the past multiple times at this point, including one in which Adam himself was present for. It's highly possible, being aware of a Multiverse, Aisha and Adam couldn't stand by and allow the Troobians to continue their world destroying rampage, and thus headed them off at Sirius with Space Patrol Alpha. They may have even given Kruger his Shadow Ranger powers years before he would've had them and made his team a proper Ranger team, better able to fight back.

This caused the timeline to diverge, as rather than ravaging the planet and moving on, the Troobians have been stalled at Sirius for years, resulting in fewer planets being destroyed. As a result, fewer aliens fled to Earth as refugees, and thus fewer aliens are on Earth period, but Earth is still part of the interstellar scene as a whole.

Meanwhile, SPD is continuing to exist in its own timeline.

Billy was in a hurry to bring Zordon back to stop Lord Zedd
Out of fear only another Z-Wave could stop Zedd again, Billy rushed things and that's what allowed Rita's evil to return, effectively turning Zedd into this movie's Greater-Scope Villain.
