Cappadocious made it happen

  • The origin of the kindred of the east makes little sense. They are like Risen who resemble Vampires. It is almost as if someone decided to find a way to aid wraiths in affecting the physical world and took inspiration for the system's design from the vampiric condition. Cappadocious was the oldest and most powerful vampire necromancer and his clan formed many of the strangest bloodlines. He's also conveniently been destroyed utterly so we'll never know.
    • Cappadocious had nothing to do with the Kuei-Jin. This is fully explained in the sourcebook and is not a mystery at all. The Kuei-Jin have been doing their thing completely parallel to the Western vamps. Eastern lands of the dead follow different spiritual rules than the West, so Kuei-Jin essentially are Asian Risen. Of the Antediluvians, Saulot had the most experience with them and even he was on the outside looking in.

The Wan-Xian were a attempt to recreate the Exalted.
  • That explains some of the similarities and the inconsistencies. More than likely they were attempt No. 1 to recreate the Exalted. The Inquisitors during the Dark Ages were the second attempt and the Hunters are the third.

The Kuei-Jin are the key to Golconda.

  • What is Golconda? In general it is the complete taming, and surpassing of the Beast in the Cainites. What is the Beast's main form of acting up? Frenzying due to hunger for Blood. The Kuei-Jin don't use the blood, for their powers, they use a method to draw out the energy/chi in it. Cainites burn blood when using their powers. At higher levels they draw in energy/chi from the world around them, thus eliminating the need to drink blood. Saulot figured this all out when he visited, and learned from them. By drawing out the power in the blood, Saulot could keep his powers, and not use up the blood within him. Thus no more vampiric hunger. Then it is just a matter of conquering the other fears like fire, and sunlight. With no more fear of the Beast, or hunger, he could then focus on the next step, obtaining God's forgiveness. For the Kuei-Jin it is just another early step on their own path of redemption, for Cainites though, it is one of the final steps to it. Different species of vampires, ergo, different paths to redemption. What is also one of the crimes of Cainites against God? Forcing vampirism on others, the next step might have involved getting rid of all the monsters that descended from him(his clan(s), the Salubri/Baali), then along comes a new vampire named Tremere...
