Think about it. The same cast of characters, Marzipan being the only girl similar to Kanga being the only female, and Free Country USA is the Homestar equivalent to the Hundred-Acre-Wood. Strong Bad and Tigger are also [[BreakoutCharacter Breakout Characters]] and are more recognizable alongside the title character.

In "The Homestar Runner Enters The Spooky Woods", the mechanics of death and ghosthood are revealed. Once someone [[DeadlyEuphemism "gives up the ghost"]], they have until the witching hour to face their three greatest fears, each one giving them a piece of their corporeal form back. The incorporeal ghost forms are purely black and white, with not even a shade, whereas the corporeal bits are in full color.
Strong Sad inhabits a strange state in between corporeal and ghostly, having shades of gray but no real hue to his body, and on multiple occasions he has been said or shown to be at least partially dead.
The reason for this, I think, is that Strong Sad didn't face his fears well enough when he died the first time. For each fear, he ended up taking a course of action that displayed a sort of submissive apathy, in such a way that he ''kind of'' faced his fears, but on the other hand, did he really? In the end, this approach left him in the state he's in now, a pitiful creature who inhabits a space nobody should.

There are tons of "memetic" [=SCPs=]. Sentient literary characters, numbers that drive people crazy, ideas with wills of their own. As an in-universe fictional dog that cannot be killed, Mr. Poofers would fit right in. Especially considering Strong Bad and the rest of the gang end up worshipping him as their dark overlord.
