What happened to the dinosaurs

What we see in the series is essentially their second attempt at filling the planet with animals. Quite a while before the show started, they had a breakthrough when they created the first dinosaur. Their imaginations went wild, making hundreds of variations, and God was accepting their designs left and right, even works in progress if they were functional.

After they had probably at least half of the animals they needed, God decided that there wasn't enough variety on land and that he wanted to start over. He announced that they were going to have an extinction event, and anything that survived would get to stay.

Everyone on the design team had pretty much the same reaction. "Isn't it your fault for accepting those designs all willy-nilly without thinking ahead?!"

Naturally, no one wanted to start over, so to prevent the team from updating their animals ahead of time so they wouldn't get wiped out, God didn't tell them what the extinction event would be. So instead, they could each only focus on a couple species and update them on the fly to ensure their survival.

This event lead to God being much more involved with the animal creation process, making more requests to ensure there was plenty of variety. All in all, this was the start of the teams mutual hatred towards their client.

  • Problem: Hallucigenia (a spiny sea worm that went extinct millions of years before dinosaurs even evolved) is approved after numerous modern animals such as the koala, the elephant, and birds have already been approved. This would indicate that the design team (and God, of course) exist outside the normal confines of space time if they can draft and get animals approved in Anachronic Order and extinction events likely don't play a factor in their frustrations.

Saturn's unicorn design will eventually get approved...

As the rhinoceros, being a hybrid of the bulkier cow-like prototype and the dumber, more aggressive prototype that led to the creation of the narwhal.

  • Somewhat Confirmed, the unicorn got approved as an animal for heaven, it still lacks the intelligence however, getting its horn stuck in a fence.
