The Cursed Ring Kunai wears is the REAL Kunai.
In the first episode, the Idol gives Kunai a sinister-looking ring for no discernible reason. It's speculated that the Idol is really the Ophan (one of the angels that created the Kingdom), so it's curious that she would even have such a ring in the first place. Further, the ring is constantly urging Kunai (whose body is inhabited by his game's creator, Oino Akira) to commit evil acts, which fits with what we know of Kunai's original personality. It's possible that the Ophan contained Kunai's "true" persona within the ring so that Akira would be pulled along inside him instead—the latter theory being something Kunai himself considers in episode 1.

Confirmed later in the Web Novel: the personality in the ring is "Mary", a character from a game Oono Akira made before Infinity Game and was the template for Kunai.

Akira is unwittingly creating allies against Kunai, for an Enemy Without showdown.
The majority of Kunai's allies and Unwanted Harem are turning out to be loyal to him rather than the original Kunai, even when they served under the "original" Kunai in Infinity Game. Aku, Luna and Yukikaze are clearly interested in Kunai for being a Nice Guy (or at least, their rescuer) which can really be credited to Akira's decisions. Kirisame Zero is being presented as an enemy of the Great Empire, which makes him and the women attached to him (Queen and Tron) enemies of the original Kunai as well. Even Yu Kirino and Isami Tahara went through some sort of change the moment that Akira-inside-Kunai touched them, Kirino instantly falling in love after being acknowledged by an "almighty god" (which would described Akira, who literally created her).

Also confirmed later in the Web Novel: Hakuto's original personality, "Mary", eventually escapes the ring and becomes a major threat. However, the main antagonist proves to be a mysterious "Game Master" that is pulling the string from the background.
