DotA 2 will have a Guest Fighter from another Valve game.
One of the Team Fortress 2 characters most likely.
  • Likely, but this troper would also put his money on a Tank from Left 4 Dead
  • Josse: TI 8 had a exclusive IO arcana that turns the hero into a companion cube from the game.

DotA 2 will be free to play, but have microtransactions, a la League of Legends
  • They'll probably add their store API and have cross-game trading, like they did with Portal 2.
    • A week or so ago, Valve did say they were working on their own free-to-play game while they were talking about how they added MMO Games to Steam. Soon after, they made Team Fortress 2 free to play, but who's to say the game they mentioned wasn't Dota 2?
    • Jossed: Dota has Microtransactions, but unlike league, you do not need to unlock heroes, and all that you can buy are skins.

This troper thinks that the DOTA 2 universe, rather than taking place in the Warcraft universe like its predecessor, is actually Valhalla from Norse mythology. The heroes are Earth's greatest warriors and the creeps are lesser warriors who have entered Valhalla, while the neutrals are now eradicated monsters of the world. Everyone is constantly battling to train for the ultimate army, to fight in the battles that will happen when Ragnorok occurs.

  • It already has its own original setting. The Radiant vs The Dire, two powerful and ancient beings who constantly at war with each other. Heroes are people who were drawn by their power for whatever reason.
