The Army Men series takes place during Life After People

  • At least in the early days of post humanity. Pets are still alive, power sources are still running, and insects are still in the process of taking over houses. Heck, it's even possible that the event that took away humans is what opened the portals between the worlds.
    • Jossed for the Sarge's Heroes series at least; Plastro and Bridgette get to a toy store by stowing away in a kid's backpack.
    • In Army Men II it is implied for the "Aerosol" and "Magnifying Glass" attacks that Sarge is calling a person (as his animation is operating radio equipment) to use those weapons.

If another game is made, it will involve going back in time to prevent the events of Sarge's War

  • Possibly involving The Omega Soldier, who survived his only appearance in Army Men: Green Rogue.

The reason the Army Men game has so many retcons between games is because each game is set in a different toybox portal
  • In most of the Army Men games there are very different continuities where different versions of characters exist and are active in the real and plastic world, most notably the much Darker PC games and contrasted with the more humorous and cartoonish Sarges Heroes games. In Portal Runner, Brigette Bleu manages to enter into other worlds based out of other toy playsets including an alien world, a jungle world and a medieval world. It's said the Sarges Heroes version is set in The Army Men World. It's very possible that each continuity are in the same universe, with different playsets with those versions of the characters mingling in the same world isolated from one another ala Toy Story.
    • This could also effectively make the Fanon Discontinuity for the sequels to Army Men Sarges Heroes such as Sarges War legitimate in universe. The Sarge we know didn't lose his friends to Lord Malice while another distant version in another toybox universe did. Indeed one could stretch this further and personally retcon out any game they don't like because it was in another toybox world.
