Edits after the original ending was scrapped.
In the final scene when Derek is crying over Danny's dead body, he says "What did I do?" I suspect this line was added late in production, possibly even post-production (his head is turned away from the camera when the line is heard, so it could have been dubbed in), after they decided not to go with the original ending that Derek returns to being a neo-Nazi. It seems to establish that Derek blames himself for the murder, which makes it less likely he'll lash out at black people the way he did after his father's murder.
