Cat President is a dating simulator where you, a human, can date the presidential candidates of the United States, all of whom are cats. There are six cats you can choose from: Frisky, Thunderpaw, Kale, Dr. Nom Noms, DJ Nibbles, and Rover. On October 13, 2020, the sequel Cat President 2: Purrlitical Revolution was released with six new candidates: Poopsie IX, Kaleidoscope, Fe.Line, Earl Grey, Mr. Biscuits, and Banders.
This game has examples of the following tropes:
- Ass in a Lion Skin: Rover is not a cat like the other presidential candidates. He is actually a dog disguised as a cat.
- Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: The player acts as the Gentle Girl to Dr. Nom Noms's Brooding Boy in his route.
- Multiple Endings: At least two per candidate. Cat President 2: Purrlitical Revolution boasts twenty different endings.
- Polar Opposite Twins: Playing Thunderpaw's route will reveal that he has a twin brother named Banders. As they are modeled after Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, their cat characters naturally tend to butt heads.
- Promoted to Playable: Banders was part of Thunderpaw's route in the first game, but in the second game, he becomes a candidate with his own route.
- The Last Dance: Earl Grey in Cat President 2: Purrlitical Revolution is getting on in years and knows that this is probably his last chance to win an election after several unsuccessful attempts.
- Took a Level in Dumbass: The player's IQ drops steeply in Rover's route, which is probably used to excuse the fact that the protagonist doesn't know that Rover is a dog, even though it's clear as day.
- World of Pun: Cat puns to be specific.
