Welcome to the Murder Club!

"At my last high school, I was unpopular...
I was ignored...
And I always walked home by myself.
But... are things going to be different from now on?
Here... in the Murder Club of Minmo High...
Have I finally found... true friendship?"

After School Murder Club!! is an indie comedy visual novel by Rabbit, Deer, You. It can be downloaded for free on Steam.

You take on the role of an unpopular transfer student who begins a new life at a vaguely Japanese high school. They quickly get drafted into the school's most secret after-school club... but could it be that the seemingly innocent members of the Murder Club are hiding a dark secret?!

After School Murder Club!! contains examples of:

  • Absurdly Powerful Student Council: The student council of Minmo High can freely break the dress code, boss around the teachers, smoke weed in class, and, according to the ending, have an armed special ops squad at their disposal.
  • Achievement System: The game's Steam achievements cover everything from seeing the game's various endings to throwing yourself out of a window to your death, or literally naming your character "Achievement Hunting".
  • Alternate Universe: Stella gives the protagonist a lecture about parallel universes on the Second Day of the game, and it becomes more relevant in the game's hidden third ending.
  • Arc Number: The number 119 is repeated constantly throughout the game:
    • It's printed on Stella's hoodie.
    • It's the age of the world's oldest edible ham.
    • It's the price of pickles on the menu of Uncle Mugen's café.
    • It's the number for emergency services in Japan.
    • The cash amounts on the Wheel of Woe are all multiples of 119.
    • The Great Betrayal occurred 119 years ago.
    • The keypad code to access the secret ending is also 119.
  • Arc Words: "At my last high school... I was unpopular... I was ignored... and I always walked home by myself" is repeated several times throughout the story.
  • Art Shift: Being a no-budget indie title, the game mixes stock assets with artwork done by multiple people, resulting in wildly clashing styles.
  • Japanese School Club: The Murder Club is one of these, although it isn't "officially recognised" by the school's faculty. For some reason.
  • School Clubs Are Serious Business: The main character's goal in life is to join an after school club, or better yet, start their own.

"It took the Teeps about a week to consume their bodies. I remember that their blood was... ooh, dark and rich. Like wild berries."
