Video Game / Time Trax

Go To

Time Trax is a video game adaptation of the TV series that was released in North America on April 1994 and then in Europe on July of the same year for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. A Sega Genesis version was also planned to be released as well, but it was later cancelled. In essence, Time Trax is basically a Run-and-Gun game reminiscent of other classic games in the genre such as Contra and Mega Man, except that it's very lacking in many attributes and is something of a forgettable title for those who are not even casual fans.

This game provides examples of:

  • Cool Ship: Darien Lambert must fight a Trax Aerodyne to make landfall on their hideout in Hawaii.
  • Denial of Diagonal Attack: A very annoying issue that adds to the game's difficulty is that you can only fire the PPT to the left or right. Strangely enough, you can fire up and diagonal but only in the chase sequences.
  • Energy Weapon: The Trax organization is armed with laser weapons. Fortunately, you can use one as well.
  • Jungle Japes: The remnants of the Trax organization will flee to a Hawaiian island with Sepp Dietrich leading them to make a last stand.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Darien Lambert will automatically punch and kick enemies that are too close to him. Enemies will also react in the same way.
  • Goomba Stomp: The only way to kill the spiders once they're roaming around on the ground is to jump on them.
  • The Paralyzer: Something of a misnomer but your signature weapon, the Pellet Projection Tube, will paralyze humans for a few seconds and yet is strong enough to damage and destroy machinery. However, it can be upgraded to KO certain humans with just a few shots.
  • Powered Armor: The final boss uses this complete with blaster arms, rocket launchers and jump jets.
