''The Town With No Name'' is a 1992 video game on the Commodore Amiga CDTV platform made by Delta 4 Interactive and published by On-Line Entertainment.

The game's main character is simply called The Man With No Name who arrives at the town called The Town With No Name.

A longplay of the game was [=MSTed=] by WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}}. You can ([[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments and should]]) watch it [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8QzQp57oI&feature=channel_video_title here]]. A showcase speedrun can also be seen [[https://www.twitch.tv/videos/175523961 here]].

!!Tropes:
* AndNinetyNineCents: Wildcard [=McVee=] has a bounty of US $4,999.95.
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: The priest that is found in the church ends up floating up into the Heavens if you go and pray there.
* BarSlide: Happens when the player orders a beer from bartender.
* BonusBoss: The assailant on the saloon's second floor is optional. He's not affiliated with Evil Eb's gang whatsoever.
* BoomHeadshot: Trying to shoot the Creator/ClintEastwood expy has you getting your head shot off cleanly from the neck.
* CampGay: Massive Jake, one of the villains, sounds like this.
* ContinuingIsPainful: The game has no save option, meaning every time you die, you have to start from the very beginning.
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: The good ending, where the Man With No Name, who was supposed to meet up with his sister, [[spoiler: learns he has been in the wrong town all this time. All the conflict in the game turns out to be a goofy misunderstanding]].
* CuttingTheKnot: When Wildcard [=McVee=] challenges the player to a duel after losing at cards, you can shoot him immediately. While not very honorable, the game considers it a viable option.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: The Man With No Name offers Evil Eb a round of drinks after [[spoiler: learning he is in the wrong town. He considers it payback for killing Eb's entire gang.]]
* DerangedAnimation: The cutscenes to say the least, which uses a blend of CGI backgrounds and traditional animation.
* DullSurprise: Whoever voiced Bad Bart seriously did not care about projecting any sort of emotion in his acting. Nor does the person voicing the Man With No Name, whom WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}} describes as sounding like "Creator/JohnWayne with a stroke."
* DummiedOut: Evil Eb has several unused cutscenes where he pops out of different scenery and shooting with his twin guns rather than his rifle.
* DyingTown: The place isn't as populous as it used to be according to bartender.
* ExactlyWhatIAimedAt: If you miss the first boss by shooting to the side, the bullet ends up hitting a vulture in the sky, which then crashes into the boss.
* TheFaceless: The sheriff's hat is the only part of him that can be seen.
* GainaxEnding: One alternate ending ends with The Man With No Name [[spoiler:shooting a kid for calling him Shane,]] and boarding a train and leaving. [[spoiler:Then the train goes into space.]]
* GagNose: The priest has a big nose and nostrils.
* TheGrimReaper: Appears out of nowhere after you have killed a boss to show that he is dead. The animation for the Reaper is so bad, it is thankfully reserved for scenes after you kill Zippy Zeke and Crafty Clint.
* GunsAkimbo: Evil Eb is seen holding two revolvers. However, he uses a rifle in the duel.
* {{Jerkass}}: The Man With No Name is an asshole. At one point, should you choose to talk with the old man, he repeatedly rubs it in the old man's face that he has killed his (the old man's) pet. Thankfully, the guy is too senile to get it.
* KaizoTrap: Wildcard [=McVee=] gets angry from you winning the game and challenges you for a duel. [=McVee=] lies and kills you in the saloon unless [[ShutUpHannibal you shoot at him during his tirade]].
* KilroyWasHere: "Uncle Jesse was here!" is found written next to the wanted poster of Nasty Ned in the Jailhouse.
* LiterallyShatteredLives: One of the possible deaths is to get shot to shards like glass.
* LoveTheme: A badly hummed song is played when the Man With No Name is with the prostitute. Sometimes, the song is replaced by really awkward noises between the two.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Most victims take getting shot rather lightly.
* MeanwhileScene: With ''Franchise/BackToTheFuture'' fonts for some reason.
* MultipleEndings: Not counting the game overs, there's two endings. Either [[spoiler:The Man With No Name kills a child and goes into a train that flies into space]], or [[spoiler:he defeats Evil Eb, but it turns out it was all a misunderstanding, and goes into the saloon for a whisky with Evil Eb]].
* MundaneMadeAwesome: The player is treated to a victorious orchestral {{sting}} after successfully catching a mug of beer.
--> '''[[WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}} slowbeef]]:''' This is TheWestern equivalent of getting a piece of the [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Triforce]]!
** PlayedForLaughs in the same manner when the player enters the Store and takes its "once-in-a-life-time never-to-be-repeated mega-special offer": [[spoiler:one baked bean (out of 425)]].
** The scene with the Creator/ClintEastwood {{Expy}}
** Choosing to go downstairs in the saloon leads to the Man With No Name ''jumping off the second floor''.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: The Hole-In-The-Head Gang.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: Some characters don't even try to have an American accent, like the bartender who has an Irish accent for no discernible reason.
* NoOneShouldSurviveThat: The priest pessimistically tells the Man With No Name that he's going to be viciously gunned down by Eb's gang. Coming back to the church after winning a few duels gives this reaction:
--> '''Priest''': You're alive? Coolie, this is a miracle.
* ObviousBeta: Very, very obvious.
* OedipusComplex: Someone carved next to Massive Jake's wanted poster that he loved his mom, which is why he shot his dad.
* OffModel: Despite all the obvious {{rotoscoping}}, the characters still manage to look pretty awful at times.
* OneLastSmoke: Bad Bart does this after being shot.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Wildcard [=McVee=]'s [[FakeAmerican American accent]] is at least passable until he is shot and he laments the bullet hole in his "waistcoat," which is called a "vest" in UsefulNotes/AmericanEnglish.
* OptionalSexualEncounter: Yes, you can sleep with a prostitute if you want. But make sure you take a bath first.
-->''[The prostitute faints]''\\
'''The Man With No Name''': It seems my deodorant has just failed. (Alternatively) What a time to discover I have a hygiene problem.
* OverlyLongGag: A few. Namely the [[WantedPoster "Wanted" posters]] and a point where the Clint Eastwood knockoff asks for the time from an old man, who looks into his watch over some creepy organ music for almost a ''full minute'', before uttering a LittleNo.
** The sex scene apparently goes on for '''months'''.
-->'''"Creator/ClintEastwood Expy"''': [[DoubleEntendre Man's got ammunition]]...
* PosthumousCharacter: Redneck Calhoun was the previous leader of the Hole-In-The-Head Gang. [[TooDumbToLive He accidentally hacked his throat when shaving]].
* {{Retirony}}: One of the Game Over scenes has a variation of this, where the player character laments that they were one page away from finishing a book before they died.
* RustproofBlood: The spider The Man With No Name steps on has red blood that always stays red. Even when he gets back in the train and steps on the squished spider again, no matter how long he has been in the town, the blood is still red.
* SaloonOwner: A nameless one, who can play cards with you and [[BarSlide serve you beer]], but provides little useful information apart from explaining that The Town With No Name is [[DyingTown dying]].
* ShaggyDogStory: In the aftermath of the fight with [[BigBad Evil Eb]], [[spoiler:it turns out that The Man With No Name thought he was in Dodge Gulch, only for Evil Eb to tell him that is actually in the ''next'' town from the one they are in]].
* ShoutOut:
** The "Meanwhile" screen is a shout-out to ''Franchise/BackToTheFuture''.
*** The "Back In Town" screen is said to be a shout-out to multiple things, from ''Series/BeverlyHillsCop'' to ''Series/WinLoseOrDraw'' to ''Series/NewKidsOnTheBlock''.
** The "Pause For One Moment" screen found in the "Mystery Option" is a shout-out to ''Film/TheGodfather''. Coincidentally, the rabbit gun scene found in that option could be a shout-out to ''Film/TheTerminator''.
** The bad ending's "The End" screen could be a shout-out to ''Franchise/StarTrek''.
** One of those "Meanwhile" screens is a shout-out to ''[[WesternAnimation/WileECoyoteAndTheRoadRunner Road Runner]]''.
** Carved next to one of the wanted posters in the jail is "[[Series/FullHouse Uncle Jesse]] was here."
** It also has Shout Outs to films starring Creator/ClintEastwood.
** The infamous ending of the hero shooting the kid is a parody of the ending from ''Film/{{Shane}}''.
** One of the posters has "[[Series/TwinPeaks FIRE WALK WITH ME]]" scribbled on it.
** Evil Eb's name [[{{Mondegreen}} sounds a lot like]] [[Film/EvilDead2 "Evil Ed"]]
* ShowdownAtHighNoon: The TenPacesAndTurn version. And the sheriff explains it [[StockFootage every time]].
* SkewedPriorities: Wildcard [=McVee=] gets shot in the heart, and his main concern as he bleeds out is that his waistcoat and shirt are ''ruined''.
%%* SpinningClockHands
* StockFootage: Some characters tend to repeat animations. The "Clint Eastwood" Expy's only animation is rotating his head.
* [[CityWithNoName Town With No Name]]: It's even in the title.
* TheGhost: Billy-Bob, the most meanest outlaw anywhere, is challenged to a duel by Evil Eb as written in one of the town's newspapers. Evil Eb assumes Billy-Bob shot the rest of the Hole-In-The-Head Gang, but it turns to be the Man With No Name.
* TheUnfought: Immortal Issac is the only criminal from the [[WantedPoster "wanted" posters]] that you never fight, or even [[TheGhost see]].
* TheUnintelligible: The priest's mumbling is incomprehensible for the most part. It doesn't help that the music plays over his dialogue for a second.
* {{Undertaker}}: Mr. Diablo, A.K.A. the weird looking Abraham Lincoln. He has his own company named "Mr Diablo's Undertaking Service" that includes a newly introduced "Die now - Pay later" scheme.
* WantedPoster: A whole series of them in the jail. The guys you kill get their posters crossed out or, in one case, vandalized with graffiti.
* WarmUpBoss: Evil Eb's Littlest Brother, the first villain you take on that causes the rest of the Hole-In-The-Head Gang to come after you. Even if you miss him, you still kill him.
* WouldHurtAChild: One of the endings has the [[DesignatedHero "hero"]] [[spoiler: shooting a child [[DisproportionateRetribution because he got his name wrong.]]]]
* ZeroEffortBoss: Evil Eb's Littlest Brother. He always fails to shoot at you. You win even if you fail to shoot at him.
