The Null Tree is an Idle Game made in The Modding Tree by vgakbzc and released in 2021. The first layer lets you reset for compressed null points once you have enough null points, while lower ones unlock new resources. Progression generally requires getting to a specific point and resetting, with the game's balancing usually not allowing you to go far past that until you do something specific. There's also an Inertia mechanic meant for idling.

The game is playable here.

This game provides examples of:

  • Achievement System: There's a sidelayer for achievements. All of them are earned by buying upgrades, getting enough of a resource, or otherwise progressing.
  • A.I.-Generated Economy: There's a tab where you can manage autobuyers, like automatically resetting for a specific point type or buying upgrades in a layer.
  • Cap:
    • Elemental and inertia buyable amounts are capped at 50.
    • The Star upgrade that boosts np gain based on time spent in the reset doesn't go above x1e100.
  • Challenge Run: The Infinity layer has a challenge called "EASY" that makes your null point gain ^0.85 and taks you with reaching 1.8e308 compressed null points. Its reward is multiplying the cp decrease rate by x0.49.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Each layer has a specific color.
    • Compress: Gray
    • Air: White
    • Fire: Red
    • Earth: Brown
    • Water: Blue
    • Infinity: Turquoise
    • Star: Yellow
    • Planet: Cyan
    • Eternity: Magenta
  • Export Save: You can push a button to export the 8KB+ savefile and another to paste it into the game.
  • Not-Actually-Cosmetic Award: Two achievements provide rewards that let you progress further ("Pretty Rich" multiplies passive compressed null point generation by x10, and "3k infinities" makes points in row 2 much cheaper). All achievements also add achievement power that multiplies point generation.
  • Reset Milestones: The elemental points layers have three milestones each earned for accumulating enough of them. They improve compressed null point gain, automatically buy Compress upgrades, give 2% of cp per second, unlock three new upgrades in Compress, make their respective point gain not reset cp, and make their respective best point multiplies cp gain.
