Sorry, We're Closed is an upcoming dual third-person/FPS Survival Horror indie game developed by a la mode games (Dev/art blog) and published by Akupara Games that draws inspiration from classic PlayStation-era games, namely the Silent Hill series.

The story follows a young woman named Michelle who unexpectedly finds herself cursed by a demon in search of a partner. Now trapped in the realm of demons, she only has three days to break the curse and return to her world or die trying.

A free demo was launched on Steam on October 19th, 2023. The full game is set to release sometime in 2024.

Not to be confused with Sorry, We're Open.

Sorry, We're Closed provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Achilles' Heel: The demons' weak points are their hearts.
  • All Just a Dream: Subverted. Michelle initially assumes that the Antagonist's appearing in her room, and her discovery of the Demon World's existence is this, but her friend and fellow resident Robyn states that is very much real.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: Should Michelle run out of bullets for the Hellhound pistol after the tutorial for it, she can return to the shooting gallery and talk to Robyn to receive 12 more rounds.
  • Multiple Endings: The game has a multitude of conclusions that derivate from Michelle's decisions and how she deals with the Antagonist by the end.
  • No Name Given: The demon who cursed Michelle is not named, only being refered to as the Antagonist out-of-universe.
  • Save Point: Players save via interacting with a payphone and selecting the 'Save' option when talking tto the Operator wherever they show up in the Demon World.
  • Shout-Out: Several to Silent Hill:
    • The subway area where Michelle meets Robyn after getting transported to the demon world is reminscent of the inro for the Subway World of Silent Hill 4.
    • Michelle finds the shotgun in a train car much like Heather does during Silent Hill 3. It's even set at the same camera angle.
  • Third Eye: Michelle has this ability granted to her by the Antagonist with it being activated by snapping her fingers. It allows her to see her surroundings more clearly, unblock passageways blocked by brambles and better target enemies' weak points.
  • Trapped in Another World: After encountering the Antagonist and getting her third eye, Michelle attempts to make her way to the rooftop area of her apartment building (after being briefly hindered by Darel), stepping through a strange doorway only to find herself stranded in the Demon World.
  • Trash of the Titans: Michelle's apartment is a major mess due in part to her not wanting to let go of her memories of her ex-girlfriend who she broke up with 3 years prior to the start of the game.
