SIMULACRA 3 is an adventure/horror game created by developer Kaigan Games, and the fourth in a series, following two main entries and Pipe Dreams. The game was released on Oct. 25, 2022.
The charming rural town of Stonecreek has seen better days; aside from gentrification, random people have been vanishing out of thin air, causing townsfolk to believe that the ghost of a witch has cursed them. Hoping to get to the bottom of this story, especially after her main source becomes a victim, a local journalist tasks her intern, the player, with hacking into his phone and helping her search for clues.
This work uses the following tropes:
- Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: While the titular Simulacra of the previous entries were mainly digital entities, the Bedlam is an old urban legend that ended up possessing the Atlas app.
- Intrepid Reporter: Ruby Myers, Stonecreek's star journalist, who asks the player to check out a victim's phone while she's busy investigating the town and directly confronting the danger.
- Multiple Endings: Similar to the previous games, the player's actions will determine whether or not Ruby survives her encounter with the Simulacra.
