Intro Narration

Robinson: The Journey is a VR Walking Simulator Adventure Game by Crytek.

The game casts you as Robin, a young boy who was travelling through space when something happens, destroying the ship. Luckily, a planet was nearby, which Robin immediately descends to in an escape pod with an AI helper named HIGS. With no other options, the two settle down on the planet... and discover that there are dinosaurs on it. Robin even witnesses a Tyrannosaurus rex hatching right in front of him, whom he befriends and names Laika.

Three months later, during a game of Hide and Seek, the trio make a surprising discovery: Laika found an old HIGS Unit. Upon scanning it, the trio discover it belonged to a colony ship that came to the planet before theirs did. That means more people, people who can help them out. Thus, the trio begin their adventure across the perilous land.

The game was released on November 8th, 2016.

Robinson: The Journey contains examples of:

  • Autosave: The game has it. You know it's happening when "Saving Game" appears in the middle of the screen under a spinning circle.
  • Hover Bot: HIGS Units are floating robotic balls.
  • P.O.V. Cam: Like most VR games, this one's viewed through the Player Character's eyes (in this case, Robin's).
  • Time Skip: The game starts with Robin and Laika witnessing Laika's birth and subsequently befriend her. Then it jumps ahead three months.
  • Tyrannosaurus rex: Laika is a baby one. And an adorable, helpful one at that.
