Clockwise, from the title: Aurora, Hellaron, Brigandine, and Fren

Reverie Knights Tactics is a Strategy RPG developed by 40 Giants Entertainment, and published by 1C Entertainment (who also published, but did not develop, Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark). The game released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on January 25, 2022.

Tropes:

  • Catapult Nightmare: The tutorial depicts Aurora's father and his friends in a Hopeless Boss Fight, which is revealed to be a nightmare when it cuts to Aurora waking up in bed.
  • Combination Attack: It's possible to perform these, as seen at 1:08 in this Launch trailer.
  • Decoy Protagonist: As stated above, the tutorial has the player control Aurora's father in what turns out to be a dream, followed by actual protagonist Aurora waking up.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: The very first fight of the game, in the tutorial, is impossible to win due to infinite enemy reinforcements.
  • An Ice Person: The launch trailer states that main protagonist Aurora is the "Ice Focused Spellcaster", and her initial skill is to summon and throw a ball of ice at an enemy.
  • Karma Meter: The decisions that Aurora make are represented by an Order/Chaos icon. It's noted during the tutorial that Order can be seen as both smart and timid, while Chaos is seen as both brave and foolish, meaning that neither is inherently the "better" choice (though there are trophies/achievements for favoring one over the other).
  • Meaningful Name: Aurora's best friend, Brigandine, shares her name with a type of armor and is the party's heavy-armored defensive unit.
  • Our Goblins Are Different: One of the enemy types are “dogblins”, which walk on all fours like dogs but have hideous faces with large tusks and sharp teeth.
  • Robot Buddy: Aurora's mentor and the "Support Cleric", Hellaron, is a robotic golem with a shimmering blue orb instead of a face.
  • Skill Scores and Perks: Upon leveling up, in addition to deciding which of two skills a unit can learn, the player also gains an Attribute point. These points can level up either Might (raw damage), Finesse (skill damage), or Defense (resisting damage).
