Red Alert 20XX is a Game Mod for the Real-Time Strategy game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. It features only two factions from the vanilla game (Allies and Soviets), albeit with much more fleshed-out subfactions.

The mod can be downloaded here

This game provides examples of:

  • 20 Minutes into the Future: As the title name suggests, it is set in the near future in an unspecified timeline instead of the early 70's.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Units that got new names from the game where they debuted are Peacekeeper (GI), Guardian (Guardian GI), Special Force (Navy SEAL), Foxteam (Sniper), Legion Tank (Grizzly Tank), Spartan IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle), Hercules/Ulysses (Nighthawk Transport), Tengu X (Mecha Tengu), Tsunami MLRS (Hover MLRS), Myrmidons Transport (Allied Amphibious Transport), Guard Tower (Pillbox), Aegis Missile System (Patriot Missile System), Drone Center (Robot Control Center), Cyber Hound (Soviet Attack Dog), Shock Trooper (Tesla Trooper), Heavy Miner (War Miner), Hammer Tank (Rhino Tank), Proletarian Flak APC (Flak Track), Grasshopper (Siege Chopper), Krocodile Transport (Soviet Amphibious Transport), Seawolf (Sea Scorpion) and Tech Repair Facility (Tech Machine Shop).
  • Adapted Out: Due to some extensive reworks to both factions' rosters as well as the developer's choice and decision, numerous units from the vanilla game are out from this mod:
    • The Allies had lost Rocketeer, Chrono Legionnaire, Chrono Commando, Tank Destroyer, Prism Tank, Mirage Tank, Battle Fortress, Harrier, Black Eagle, Dolphin, Prism Tower, Grand Cannon and Weather Control Device.
    • The Soviets had lost Crazy Ivan, Desolator, Terrorist, Terror Drone and Giant Squid.
    • The entire Yuri's Army faction is also omitted as well.
    • The concept of heroes (named, singleton, ultra-elite infantry that is limited to one per player at any time) is gone. Tanya and Boris have been replaced with generic elite infantry units such as the Allied Commando/Foxteam Sniper and the Soviet Commissar/Storm Commando.
  • Civil Warcraft: All single-player challenge missions (each corresponding to one enemy subfaction) have two versions, one where you play as the opposing faction and one where you play as the same faction while the enemy commander is described as a renegade from your own side. Note that this does not apply to co-op challenges, where the enemy faction cannot be chosen by the players.
  • Darker and Edgier: Compared to Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge, the mod aims for a more grounded and darker atmosphere while still retaining the same gameplay experience.
  • Rate-Limited Perpetual Resource:
    • Ore drills, which are found in the middle of most ore fields and cannot be destroyed, continuously pump out ore on the ground, though one harvester is usually sufficient to match the speed at which the ore is replenished, so expanding out is still important. Gems give more credits when collected but are never replenished.
    • The War Funds support power automatically activates as soon as it goes off cooldown, giving you a regular trickle of income as long as your Construction Yard is still standing.
    • Oil Derricks, by far the most common tech structure in the game, provide a slow trickle of income to anyone who captures and owns one. Although Oil Derricks don't provide a lot of money compared to mining, they can provide a clear economic advantage to players who can hold them, especially in the late game when ore and gems become scarce.
  • Sniper Rifle: The USA Foxteam Sniper Commando use sniper rifles to eliminate enemy infantry from afar.
