Rainbow Friends is a multiplayer horror game built in Roblox. The players' bus trip to Odd World is sent awry when the bus takes a wrong turn, leaving the players to be kidnapped by a mysterious stranger. Now, they ask of the players to gather things for them, being weary of the titular Rainbow Friends. Play the game here.
Rainbow Friends provides examples of:
- Ambiguously Evil: It's not clarified what the stranger wants out of you or why they kidnapped you. The fact that they're a Rainbow Friend probably isn't good, either.
- Artificial Stupidity: Blue, despite being the first enemy and The Face of the game, is very easy to deceive. He cannot see the player if they're in a box, period. The only time he can attack a player hiding in a box is if he's seen them get in the box and they haven't moved since. If you move far enough after getting in, you're safe. If there's not enough space to move far enough, you can easily create some distance if you run.
- Big Bad: The red Rainbow Friend, being the true identity of the stranger. Though we don't know what their goal is yet, it's likely not anything good.
- Informed Species: Some sources claim that Orange is a Dryptosaurus, but he looks more like a Velociraptor instead. Granted, he lacks the bird-like feathers and the "killing claw" of a real Velociraptor.
- Mechanically Unusual Fighter: The purple Rainbow Friend hides in the vents, only attacking players who step in the water leaking out of the vent it's currently at. It's the only Rainbow Friend not to be wandering about, looking for prey.
- Chapter two Brings purple back with another gimmick, reaching out of the ground in a maze to try and grab the player, forcing them to move quickly.
- Never Smile at a Crocodile: Orange looks like a crocodile and will viciously attack if not fed.
- No Name Given: The purple and red Rainbow Friends are unnamed, although given the naming of the other Rainbow Friends the fans have taken to calling them by their colors.
- The second chapter however does confirm the purple Rainbow Friend's name is Purple.
- Sense-Impaired Monster: Green is blind, relying on hearing and feeling to catch you.
- The Spook: The purple Rainbow Friend in the vents is not mentioned by the stranger, although the player is still warned of their appearance alongside Orange.
- Wham Shot: Both chapters end on one: Chapter One reveals that the stranger who kidnapped the players is the red Rainbow Friend, while Chapter Two ends on a shot of Blue sitting on his throne with one eye closed and the other with an X in place of a pupil, heavily implied to be dead.
