Pokemon Untamed is a Pokemon fangame based on the artwork of youtuber Subjectively, who has videos detailing all of the designs he did for the game's Pokemon.

The game takes place in the Mazah region, which is culturally and geographically inspired by Mexico.

There is currently a public demo available, which contains only the first route, town, and gym, as well as a handful of the Pokemon that will be available in the full game.

This game contains examples of the following tropes:

  • The Dividual: The Zea-Zaya line are a number of individual creatures that resemble corn kernels, coming together to form a colony that functions as a single Pokemon.
  • Fictional Holiday: The Flowing Petals Festival is an obvious stand in for the Mexican Day of the Dead.
  • Ghostly Wail: The Liloriña line are ghost/water types that weep constantly, being inspired by the myth of La Llorona. The final evolution in the line, Yoronaqua, even gets a near-unique move (only able to be learned by it and Mazian Roserade) called Chilling Wail, which damages an opponent with a chance to paralyze.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: Val at one point uses the phrase "straw that broke the Camerupt's back."
  • Moon Rabbit: Laguna is a rabbit-like Pokemon with an ear curved around in the shape of a crescent moon, and its Pokedex entry mentions an old legend that the crescent moon comes from a Laguna leaping into the sky and taking a bite out of it. Being a fairy-type, it can also learn the moves Moonblast and Moonlight.
  • Parents Are Wrong: Or grandparent, in this case. Alma, Valentina's grandmother, admits that she shouldn't have assumed that Valentina wanted to follow in the tradition of leading the town's gym and gives Valentina her blessing to go out on her own journey.
  • Romanticism Versus Enlightenment: Tradition vs. progress is stated to be one of the major themes of the game, with it being touched on a few times even in just the short demo.
  • Wicked Wasps: Noctavispa is a bug/dark type inspired by the Tarantula Hawk Wasp, and retains that species' unsettling habit of bringing live prey back to their young. Its design was specifically intended to be somewhat reminiscent of a supervillain.
