Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing is a virtual reality game based off of the Little Witch Academia franchise (specifically in the TV series continuity) developed by Univrs.

Taking place several months after the events of the TV series. As a result of Akko and Diana's feat causing magic to be revived, Luna Nova Magical Academy has become overwhelmed by sudden excesses of magic. In order to use up the excess magic, Luna Nova has begun to bring in temporary guest students to the school, one of them being the player character, who on their last term, has to practice and team up with Akko and friends to win the stella cup.

As the title indicates, the game is a first person racing game in which you play as a guest student and race on a broom through 10 courses set in various locations across the TV series against the numerous characters from the franchise. You can also team up with one of them in a team race as well.

The game was released on October 12, 2020, on the Oculus Quest. It is slated to be released for the Oculus Rift, Playstation 4 VR, and SteamVR in early 2021.

Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing provides examples of:

  • Character Customization: The player character can be customized as well as your broom.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: What the game is exactly is pretty clear from the title.
  • Exposition Fairy: Neby is a brand new character introduced for this game who serves this role, acting as a guide to help you with the game.
  • First-Person Perspective: Given this is a Virtual Reality game, the game is set primarily in this perspective.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The revival of magic, which was a major spoiler in the TV series, acts as the catalyst for the game's plot. It's also made clear from the start that Akko can now fly (albeit badly), which was also a spoiler in the TV series.
  • Mental World: Sucyworld from episode 8 is a course in the game. The game handwaves its presence outside of Sucy's mind by explaining that it is a result of Sucy growing a field of giant mushrooms due to magic's comeback.
  • Pass Through the Rings: All the courses have rings you need to pass through.
  • Racing Game: The game is one set in the Little Witch Academia universe.
  • Relationship Values: The game has a friendship level mechanic, where the more you fly with a character, the closer your bond becomes with them.
  • The Magic Comes Back: Due to the events of the TV series prior, magic has become overflowing in the setting, to the point that spikes and excesses of magic are occurring due to its revival. This has led to Luna Nova to invite guest students in order to use up the excess magic and commence special rituals in order to contain some of it into the leylines. Other consequences of Magic’s comeback and its sudden spike are also briefly shown, such as Sucy sprouting a field of giant mushrooms and students being able to use bond magic, which was deem impractical prior due to the decline of magic.
