Friday Night Funkin' Below The Depths is a mod for Friday Night Funkin' based on Sonic the Hedgehog. It is about a Sonic called Sink who is stuck underwater and unable to properly drown. It consists of one song, "Sink". The team who made it also made Friday Night Funkin': Chaos Nightmare and Friday Night Funkin': Phantom Attack.
The mod can be downloaded here.
Tropes:
- Adapted Out: Like the rest of the Chaos trilogy mods, Boyfriend and Girlfriend are not in the mod.
- And I Must Scream: Sink isn't able to properly drown, as his Heroic Willpower will not let him die.
- Dark Reprise: The song "Sink" as a whole is one to the theme of Labyrinth Zone. The Drowning music is also used as part of the backing music within the song.
- Detrimental Determination: The only reason Sink is trapped in the situation of endless suffering he's in is because he's literally too determined to die, but he's stuck in a situation that is completely impossible to get out of, so there's nothing left for him to do but infinitely drown and revive in agony.
- Gameplay and Story Integration: Sink cannot die due to his determination. In "Sink", the player also cannot die, which can also allow them to beat the song without hitting a single note. You can still press R to restart the song should your health reach 0 anyway.
- Heroic Willpower: Played for horror, as Sink cannot die due to his determination not letting him drown.
- Meaningful Background Event: The area that the mod takes place in is very familiar to anyone that played Sonic 1, that being Labyrinth Zone, a zone notorious for being difficult because of it being predominantly filled with underwater segments causing the most likely deaths to be drowning.
- Tears of Blood: Sink is constantly bleeding from his eyes and nose.
- Token Heroic Orc: Sink is referred to as an "exe", but is not evil or murderous like a typical "exe". He's just an ordinary Sonic who got caught in a terrible situation.
- Who Wants to Live Forever?: Sink can't die due to his determination, which means he is stuck underwater to drown and drown again.
