Elevator Action EX is a Game Boy Color game released for Japan (and Asia) and for Europe in 2000. Developed by Altron Corporation, it's basically an updated version of the first Elevator Action game. Taito published the game in Japan while TDK published it in Europe.

The game was not exported for the Americas. Instead, the game was reprogrammed as Dexter's Laboratory: Robot Rampage.

Mike, Guy and Sarah are deployed in spy missions where they raid four buildings in four stages.

Elevator Action EX provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: The classic male agent's name is changed from "Otto" to "Mike" here.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Red for Mike, Green for Guy, Red/Pink for Sarah.
  • Cool Shades: Guy sports some shades.
  • Damsel in Distress: Later in the game, a woman helping you is captured and kidnapped, requiring the heroes to save her in the next stage.
  • Final Boss: D.D.Fox, The Dragon. He needs to be taken down in the last stage.
  • In the Back: At the end of the game, the Big Bad attempts to shoot the player when their back is turned. It doesn't work.
  • The Men in Black: Most of the enemies the agents take on wear black suits and shades.
  • Secret Character: Fox is a secret character. A password is given after beating the game which allows him to be playable.
  • Updated Re-release: The game is an updated version of the Game Boy port of the original and expands heavily upon it, including a plot, new characters, and color. Mike's character sprite and some graphics remain unchanged.
