* TransplantedAliens: Threshers are revealed to be native to Pandora's moon Elpis, after Sir Hammerlock asks Jack's Vault Hunters to bring a pair down to Pandora, with the implication that the Threshers in ''VideoGame/{{Borderlands2}}'' are descendants of the pair that got loose, and the pair that got loose ended up becoming Ol' Slappy and [[BonusBoss Terramorphous the Invincible]].

* MultiEthnicName: Gladstone Katoa, Scottish first name and Polynesian last name. Possible evidence of a MeltingPotNomenclature, but then, we have no idea if Earth or Earth cultures exist in the ''Borderlands'' verse.

* '''Claptrap the Fragtrap''': The series mascot himself, now playable for the first time and [[RunningGag capable of climbing stairs now]]. He was re-purposed as a combat unit forced to follow Jack's orders because [[MyMasterRightOrWrong his programming says so]]. His Action Skill effectively rolls a random number to determine [[RandomEffectSpell which ability (of several) happens]], which [[LuckBasedMission can go either way]]; pressing could make him "[[GunsAkimbo Funzerk]]" like Salvador, force all players to toss out grenades uncontrollably, or ''[[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway trigger uncontrollable dancing]]''. In a nutshell, his perk trees involve specializing in [[HavingABlast explosive damage]], buffing his allies [[IJustWantToHaveFriends in hopes of getting them to like him]] and [[ConfusionFu completely randomized stat boosts]].

* OffModel: The cowering FIX Loaders in the tutorial missions have some...[[http://youtu.be/s4_smhooPzg?t=33s pretty jarring animation issues.]]

* TheBogan: Given the [[CrapsackWorld general tone]] of the game and the setting being an {{expy}} of a LandDownunder, this comes up a bit with [=NPCs=], but special mention has to be given to the aptly-named '''Bogan'''ella, a shotgun that takes perverse pleasure in being fired, makes sexual innuendos when being reloaded, and insults the user when being stowed. Voiced by Elle Dawe of ''Series/{{Housos}}'' fame, to boot.

* WhipItGood: Nisha's melee attack. One loading tip even {{lampshade|Hanging}}s the implied kinkiness.

* StupidStatementDanceMix: Jack will give a side quest to launch a Rocket with the head of the Meriff's statue attached to a Dubstep remix of his last confession. While the Vault Hunters might not think so, it is ''glorious.''

* ExcitedShowTitle: Rather than just "Pre-Sequel", the game's title is given an exclamation mark.

** After [[spoiler:the first Vault Hunters express surprise over hearing that Moxxi attempted to kill Jack]], they string off a number of [[GagBoobs boob jokes]].

* PermanentlyMissableContent: Certain location-based Badass Challenges become locked out if you don't complete them right as they come along in the story, but they only provide 5-10 points each, so it's not a huge loss to not complete them. For example:
** The "Treasure of ECHO Madre" sidequest has a challenge to kill Rabid Adams, but NOT harm his pet tork during the fight. Killing him is a step in the quest, so once you kill him, the quest finishes and he never respawns again.
** In Pity's Fall, the Bosun announces that he's sending an EliteMook after you. There's a challenge to kill him before the Skipper shuts the door and crushes him. You have roughly 1 second to kill him before he gets crushed, and he never respawns again after your game saves after that point.
