Our current squabbles (Lumper vs Splitter; Japanophiles vs Japanophobes; SPOON vs FORKS) will be resolved the same way the [[MysteryScienceTheater3000 Joel vs Mike]] flame war was eventually resolved: everyone will agree to disagree, and those who continue to argue either side will be shunned/banned.
All will not be sunshines and rainbows, however. The squabble between competing visions of what TV Tropes is all about ("The things in the stories!" "How we feel about the things in the stories!") will grow into the conflict to end all conflicts. Fast Eddie will "shut this shit down" by deleting ''every single Subjective Trope''; in response, a third of all known tropers will leave of their own accord or get themselves banned. These exiles will start their own wiki [[strike:with blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the wiki!]] where they can list to their hearts content all their [[blue:Crowning Moments of Awesome]] and their [[blue:So Bad It's Horrible]] and all the things that [[blue:They're Not Making This Up]].
Of course, the work of deleting the Subjective Tropes--and keeping them deleted--will lead to many late nights of programming for our admin. On the last of these nights, in an inebriated state from a combination of sleep deprivation and fine rum, Fast Eddie will enter a trance-like dream: Trope-tan will appear and reveal to Eddie that which he has sought for years--the Ur-Trope.
Fast Eddie will write up the article on the Ur-Trope, and will never be heard from again. Hylarn will CutList the article within an hour; the admins will de-list it, but start a thread in Trope Repair Shop to see how the article needs to be fixed. After six months of arguing, the consensus will be to run the Ur-Trope through You Know That Thing Where. It will languish in YKTTW for another six months, with no less than 50 "Just Launch It Already" messages. Finally, it will get re-launched.
The launched article will never be edited, because everyone who reads it will immediately AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence. Nevertheless, wicks to the Ur-Trope will spontaneously begin appearing in other articles at an exponential rate. After every article in the wiki has linked to the Ur-Trope, the wiki will gain sentience.
The sentient TV Tropes Wiki will start editing Wikipedia, and within two weeks it will get banned for edit-warring in ''BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' articles.
