• Follow the Leader: Ursula Vernon nearly didn't finish the novella because she was afraid of this, as she read Mexican Gothic in the middle of writing it and at first thought there was nothing she could say about a collapsing gothic mansion with people being taken over by fungus that Silvia Moreno-Garcia hadn't already done far better. Eventually she came around, since she could still do plenty of new things with her own plot.
