Trivia / Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Go To

  • Acting for Two: The male Loner Psyker and the Bully Ogryn are both voiced by Greg Jones. Unlike other examples of the game's cast voicing multiple characters, the Loner and Bully are the only instance where both characters can be actively conversing with each other.
  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • After much negative fan reception over the several bugs, tedious RNG-filled progression loop, and incomplete crafting system, Fatshark sent an open letter to fans and changed their development priorities into fixing these specific issues as an attempt at this trope.
    • Later, an interview/reveal posted by PC Gamer in mid-August of '23 revealed that the four core classes were being massively overhauled with a new node-based progression system, each with three core lines that seem to be semi-mixable, somewhat similar to the original career(s) system of Vermintide II. Significant changes revealed include a new defensive ability and new offensive options for the Psyker, changes to the divisive Ogryn "grenades" (adding a conventional "big grenade" option that explodes as you would expect, as well as a cooldown-based Big Rock that replicates some of the Box o' Hurt's behaviour), and some other adjustments.
    • One could argue the entire game has been a succession of these due to the massive negative reception. The game's forums are virtually universal in the viewpoint that updates thus far are more of a 'add in what should have been present at launch' development process.
  • Schedule Slip: Fatshark's development time is notoriously slow. At the time of writing, it's taken them a year and a half to promise to address the main critiques of the 'crafting' system, nearly as long to implement the cosmetics on the cover art of the game, and over three months to even communicate upcoming changes with the fans - after giving themselves half a month to write a blog post and then missing their self-appointed deadline by over a week. 'Next week' became a meme early on in the game's development for the consistent failure of the developers to meet self-appointed deadlines for patches, hotfixes, or even simple blog posts.
  • What Could Have Been: According to one of the devs, they tried having truly recoilless lasguns as should be expected from the laser weapons they logically would be, but it felt so terrible to play that they immediately swore it off.
  • You Sound Familiar: Practically all of Vermintide's cast are given bit parts in Darktide in one form or another.
    • Dan Mersh (Markus Kruber) provides his voice to the Armoury Servitor and one of several possible profiles for Traitor Captains.
    • David Rintoul (Bardin Goreksson) voices Sire Melk.
    • Tim Bentinck (Victor Saltzpyre) provides one of many Traitor Captain voice sets, and Inquisitor Grendyl's male servitor heads during the "Who Am I?" intro.
    • Alix Wilton Regan (Kerillian) provides the one of the Traitor Captain voice sets, albeit heavily modulated.
    • Bethan Dixon Bate (Sienna Fuegonasus) voices Grendyl's female servitor heads.
    • David Shaw Parker (Franz Lohner) and Nicolette McKenzie (Olesya Pimenova) voice the Medicae Servitors.
