• What Could Have Been: Madonna lobbied hard for the role of Caroline, and wanted William Baldwin to play Adam.
  • Originally, the script was set in New Jersey, but it cost too much to film there.
• Working Title: Originally, the movie was called Baboon Heart because of the story the nuns tell Adam at the orphanage. The idea of Adam possibly having a baboon heart was loosely inspired by the story of Baby Fae.
