  • Affectionate Nickname: A humorous and lighthearted example occurred during a podcast interview for "Blake's Buzz" podcast (dedicated to comic books) for the show's 36th episode. While Blake was openly gushing over his love of Unico after watching The Fantastic Adventures of Unico. He affectionately referred to Unico as "The Little Bastard" because of how much he fell in love the character. Samuel Sattin who mentioned that Unico: Awakening will adapt "The Cat on the Broomstick" chapter, also happily referred to Unico as "The Little Bastard".
  • Milestone Celebration: The manga's release date was announced September 20, 2023. The same year Unico in the Island of Magic celebrated its 40th Anniversary.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Some backers who help fund the project might get a chance to have their characters drawn into the manga.
  • Outlived Its Creator: Unico: Awakening will mark the first time a new Unico manga has been made without Tezuka's involvement.
  • Posthumous Credit: Osamu Tezuka is posthumously credited as the manga's co-writer.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • Samuel Sattin is a huge fan of Osamu Tezuka's works and very fond of the Unico series. When Tezuka Productions quickly approved his pitch at the studio in early 2021, he was ecstatic. This made Sattin the first American to work on a Japanese manga.
    • Gurihiru are also massive fans of Unico, who serve as the manga's illustrators and character redesigns. When Sattin first chose Gurihiru as the official illustrators of the manga. They almost rejected his offer in fear of their American-Japanese inspired art style not living up to Tezuka's art style. When the finalized cover of the first volume was unveiled February 8, 2024. The duo made a statement on Twitter discussing how overwhelming they felt working on the manga's cover art.
