Trivia / Twitch Plays Pokémon Chatty Crystal

• Milestone Celebration: Chatty Crystal marks not only the seventh anniversary, but also the 50th main run of Twitch Plays Pokémon. As such, it included battles against no less than 36 playable characters from previous runs, along with multiples Legacy Boss Battles, Nostalgia Levels and Mythology Gags.

• Schedule Slip: Chatty Crystal was the first anniversary run to get delayed, starting on the 14th rather than the 12th, in order to leave the devs more time as the game itself was nowhere near ready to be played yet on the day of the actual anniversary; even then, development kept going alongside the run itself, and progress was fast enough that they had to place temporary roadblocks to prevent the chat from getting to yet unfinished areas.

• Throw It In!: VVVVVV's shiny palette does not match the official shiny palette of the Turtwig line, being orange rather than blue-green. This was only supposed to be a temporary palette that would later get fixed, but players liked it enough that it was left that way.

• What Could Have Been:
  • Latias was intended to be included in the game and even had a sprite animation ready, but was ultimately replaced with Kyogre so that Urf could appear.
  • The Host found in Sprout Tower was initially supposed to be A from Twitch Plays Pokémon Emerald, with her Torchic zyyxyy on her team. However, the team realized late into development that they didn't have all the Pokémon they needed for some of the Hosts, which caused a re-shuffle of the different encounters to be necessary.
