Writing for Yu-Gi-Oh! (first anime series) was the first time Inoue met and worked with Yasuko Kobayashi. From this they have developed a friendly enough relationship to collaborate on many anime and tokusatsu projects, and she has also been to parties at his house.
Despite initial tensions between him and Kohei Murakami (Masato Kusaka) during the production of Kamen Rider 555note According to Murakami, Inoue had told him that he acts out all the scripts he writes himself before he writes them so no one can play the characters better than him, so Murakami took that as a challenge and was thinking "I must surpass Toshiki Inoue" while portraying Kusaka, Inoue and Murakami are infamously thick as thieves following the end of the season and frequently hang out together.
What Could Have Been: Although Inoue has written for other Sentai, both prior to and after Jetman (the first series he was the head writer of), one series he probably would've had more involvement with had it not been for real-life events was Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. He was part of the writing team early on and wrote some of the early episodes, but due to real-life events and Executive Meddling, he was removed from the writing staff.
Write Who You Know: Otoya Kurenai from Kamen Rider Kiva and his antics as The Casanova were based on Inoue’s father Masaru Igami (who was notably the head writer for many Kamen Rider seasons of the Shōwa era) being a complicatedMr. Vice Guy as he states in his father’s biography, and Otoya’s depiction as a Chivalrous Pervert is reflective of Igami’s redeeming qualities that earned him the admiration of his peers and son despite those flaws.
