• Deleted Scene:
  • While Gwen is meeting with Eugene's boss, Eugene discovers he can blow on the coffee they each are holding, to their confusion.
  • During the tussle to get the eye, it hovers in the air for several seconds to everyone's surprise.
• Proud to Be a Geek: In the episode's behind the scenes feature, Russell T Davies says this is why Eugene was written sympathetically, despite what other characters think of him.
  "What I like about this show is that a lot of the staff, and I include myself, are geeks. So there was no way we would write a geek as an idiot, as anally retentive, as thick."
• Recycled Script: This story bears some structural similarities to Doctor Who's "Love & Monsters", in particular the heavy use of flashbacks and voice-overs by a guest character as narrative devices. In addition, both Eugene Jones and Elton Pope are lonely young men with fixations on the respective main characters of each series and both come to similar epiphanies about taking life as it comes rather than waiting for the unobtainable while confronting painful memories. Also, that episode featured an organisation called "LINDA" and this featured a woman named "Linda." Both of these episodes do not feature the main characters as much as other episodes.
• Working Title: Invisible Eugene, which was replaced late enough that it appeared in the series' pre-broadcast episode listings.
