Nomura is credited as creative producer, and production details make clear he was still very much involved with the creative side of the project. So no, he may not have been directed or written it, but this is still very much a Nomura project.

* WrongfullyAttributed: Many people seem to think that the game was directed or written by Tetsuya Nomura, likely because of how many projects he has and the fact that some of the characters would later appear in ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts3DDreamDropDistance'', but this isn't the case. He was only the character designer and producer.

* FanNickname:
** Jesus Beam/Super Jesus Beam/Jesus Meteor -- Joshua's BeamSpam attacks and {{Limit Break}}s.
** 'Lord Sho' to Minamimoto fans.
** '[[InfinityPlusOneSword The HP Hax Feather]]' for the Angel Feather.
** Hype-chan for [[spoiler:the girl from the secret ending of Solo Remix]], since her real name, [[spoiler:Tsugumi Matsunae]], wasn't revealed until ''eight years'' later in the trailer to ''VideoGame/NEOTheWorldEndsWithYou''.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece:
** The game is filled with early 2000's street slang, to the point where the Switch version markets it as an ''actual'' period piece! This isn't as bad as some examples though, as the vast majority of the game's TotallyRadical slang was PlayedForLaughs even back then.
** Other elements also show their age. A few of the music tracks like "Transformation" are from genres that were incredibly popular when the game was made, but are now considered CondemnedByHistory in mainstream circles. The fashion items are likewise a time capsule of what was cool in late-2000s Japan, though many of the items would still be considered "hip" to most people.
** When the anime was announced, the game's creative staff lampshaded this phenomenon by remarking that many people around Neku's age [[AluminiumChristmasTrees wouldn't even know what a flip-phone is]], even though they feature heavily in the plot.
** Likewise, the game's recreation of Shibuya is very faithful to its time period, but it was acknowledged that the anime's recreation of Shibuya would have to reflect a decade's worth of changes to the area.

** The anime's initial opening, "Teenage City Riot" by ALI, was canned less than 48 hours before the first episode was set to air because of controversy surrounding the band's drummer. It has since been replaced in all media except the initial trailers. While the song's chances of getting an official release are unclear, several fans found [[https://www.reddit.com/r/TWEWY/comments/mos6x6/teenage_city_riot_full/ the full track]] on a Japanese radio website.
