• Creator's Favorite Episode: Matt Groening called the episode a "classic" and said it is one of his favorites from the show.
• Cross-Dressing Voices:
  • As per standard with young boys on the show, Shelby is voiced by Tress MacNeille, but it's averted with the Shelbyville Milhouse (voiced by Hank Azaria in a case of Dawson Casting).
  • Shelbyville Elementary School's groundskeeper is basically a female version of Groundskeeper Willie, complete with Dan Castellaneta (Willie's voice actor) providing her voice.
• Edited for Syndication: The scene where Bart says he's going to "teach some kids a lesson", which Marge and Homer choose to interpret literally as him becoming a tutor. This actually leads to an Orphaned Reference later on, when in a retained scene Marge panics that Bart has "quit his tutoring job and joined a violence gang".
