Trivia / The Simpsons S5 E1 "Homer's Barbershop Quartet"

Go To

  • Blooper:
    • The group is credited as the Be Sharps on the sign outside the church before they came up with the name.
    • In one performance of "My Coney Island Baby", Chief Wiggum is audible despite having been replaced by Barney by this point in the story.
  • Deleted Scene: A deleted scene showed Skinner going back to his mother. She asks him if he was with a woman, he says no, then she asks for a bath, followed by mad laughing and a close-up of their Psycho-parody house. This is the first time Skinner would be involved in a knock-off joke based on the movie. This same deleted scene marks the only time Dan Castellaneta performed Agnes' voice.
  • In Memoriam: This episode was dedicated to Michael P. Schoenbrun, the former Executive in Charge of Production at Gracie Films who died on June 5th, 1993 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 54.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Most of the vocals of the Be Sharps were done by The Dapper Dans, the barbershop quartet who sing on Main Street USA at Disneyland. According to the DVD Commentary, for years they still got requests for "Baby on Board" and happily obliged. Throughout the episode, one or two of the characters' real voices are included amongst the Dapper Dans, such as Homer in "Baby on Board" and the aforementioned Wiggum in "Coney Island Baby"; the "C. Everett Koop" song, where everyone is too tired to sing on-key, features only the regular voice actors.
