Trivia / The Simpsons S3 E19 "Dog of Death"

• Edited for Syndication: In light of the controversy surrounding Leaving Neverland (and the season premiere "Stark Raving Dad" getting pulled), several TV airings, including Channel 11 in Australia, have digitally blurred out the name of the expressway (The Michael Jackson Expressway) during the sequence of Santa's Little Helper wandering through the town until the dogcatchers get him. Strangely enough, despite having removed "Stark Raving Dad", this episode on Disney+ retains the expressway's name, mainly due to the prints being carried over from the defunct Simpsons World service (with the 16:9 ones being developed in 2014 and the 4:3 ones being from the DVD releases, but slightly enhanced in quality).
• Write What You Know: The story is loosely based in writer John Swartzwelder's experiences with his own dog, which had also suffered from bloat. However, unlike the events in the episode, Swartzwelder's dog did not receive treatment as the operation was too expensive and the dog was too old, so it was euthanized.
