• Development Gag: At the end of the episode, Homer tells Lisa that she had some Native American ancestry through him all along. Originally the episode "The Trouble with Trillions", produced ten years before, started with Homer discovering that he had Native American ancestry and using it to get out of paying taxes, but this idea was scrapped when the writers found that Native Americans are not exempt from taxes.
