Trivia / The Railway Series B2: "Thomas the Tank Engine"

• First Appearance: The book marks the debut of that cheeky little tank engine, Thomas. It also marks the proper debut of James.^note Awdry intended the red engine in The Three Railway Engines to be James. However, this was retconned after kids pointed out his red color in that book, even though he is black here.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The First Edition of the book, which features Reginald Payne's illustrations unedited. For the rerelease in 1950, C Reginald Dalby made some modifications to the illustrations for the sake of technical detail and uniformity with later books, with the retool being used in all editions afterwards.
