• Deleted Role: Andy Buckley's scenes as David Wallace, in which he videochats with Michael and tries to convince him to change his mind about leaving Dunder Mifflin, were cut from the episode.
• Deleted Scene: One of the show's most well-known deleted scenes comes from this episode. Michael, while saying his goodbyes, stops by Stanley's desk and offers to do his Crossword Puzzle with him one last time, which Stanley shiftily refuses to take part in. In the process of trying to get Stanley to cooperate, Michael accidentally causes him to drop his Porn Stash of hentai illustrations; Stanley proceeds to defend himself in one of the interview segments by stating that It's Not Porn, It's Art (despite the heavily blurred images proving otherwise).
• Edited for Syndication: Unlike most examples where an extra long episode would've had scenes cut from it, this one was extended into a two-parter.
• Enforced Method Acting: Nearly all of the scenes where Michael, Dwight, Jim, and Pam cry over Michael's departure were a result of the actors genuinely being sad over Steve Carell's departure from the show.
