- Keep Circulating the Tapes: Much of the New Universe material is unavailable as reprints or digital comics. For the most part, the only way to read the stories is to track down the original issues.
- The first few issues of some series (e.g. D.P. 7) were collected into trade paperbacks, although most are now out of print.
- As of May 2022, this is largely averted for Star Brand, Nightmask and The Pitt, which are fully available as digital comics, as are the earliest issues of Psi-Force and D.P. 7 (the ones which were collected in trade paperbacks). However, back-up stories are omitted from the digital versions, so still subject to this.
- Milestone Celebration: From two different angles.
- The launch of the New Universe was this for the 25th anniversary of Marvel Comics as a whole (in its current form - the company and characters go back much further, but not under the Marvel name) and the shared Marvel Universe.
- The Untold Tales of the New Universe event and the launch of the reboot title newuniversal were a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the New Universe imprint itself.
- What Could Have Been: The New Universe line was originally conceived as a complete Continuity Reboot of the entire Marvel Universe ala Crisis on Infinite Earths, but it was decided that it'd be a waste since sales were already pretty high at the time.
