• Reality Subtext: The Time Skip that otherwise contributes very little to the plot seems to exist primarily to age up Kion to accommodate Max Charles' increasingly deepening voice over the course of the recent episodes. Kion is even the only member of the cast that looks considerably older and yet he is not quite as old as he should be given this time skip is meant to be to around the time of Lion King II's time skip.
• Recycled Plot: Kovu also went... er, will go through getting a scar identical to Scar's and the fear of turning into him in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. When and if Kion ever gets to meet his future brother-in-law, they'll definitely have a lot to talk about, and it'll start with "sisi ni sawa." However, Kovu's scar did not have a venom inside it that threatens to induce a dangerous Sanity Slippage.
