• What Could Have Been: George Pérez was originally supposed to draw the entire saga, and Jim Shooter planned it as a showcase for Pérez to draw every single character who was ever an Avenger. But Pérez was having trouble meeting deadlines and ended up leaving midway through the saga, with a different artist taking over for the issues with a large cast.
